Eddie Driscoll Passes Away After Long Illness

Eddie Driscoll, the distinguished actor known for his roles in popular television series such as Sex and the City, CSI: Miami, The Last Ship, and Desperate Housewives, has passed away at the age of 60. His death was announced by fellow actor Jimmy Palumbo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Driscoll died in Los Angeles from a saddle pulmonary embolism following a battle with stomach cancer.

Career Highlights

Born in New York, Driscoll enjoyed a prolific acting career that spanned four decades. He made notable appearances in Sex and the City in 2000, portraying Fendi Man. His extensive television career also included a guest role on Mad Men in 2014 and a part in the acclaimed drama 24 in 2007.

Driscoll is perhaps best known for his role as Randall Croft in TNT’s The Last Ship, where he featured in seven episodes in 2016. His film credits include appearances in the action thriller Cellular (2004), the comedy Boat Trip (2002), and the crime comedy Breaking In (1989) alongside Burt Reynolds.

Education and Early Career

Driscoll studied acting at the University of Miami and completed an apprenticeship at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film, where he had the privilege of working alongside Reynolds. He appeared in the 1989 thriller Physical Evidence with Reynolds.

In the 2002 comedy-romance Boat Trip, Driscoll played a steward alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and former Saturday Night Live cast member Horatio Sanz.

Later Roles and Contributions

Driscoll’s television work continued with a role in the eighth season of Desperate Housewives in 2012, where he portrayed a taxi driver. His other notable roles include appearances in Entourage, L.A. Noire, Days of Our Lives, Outlaw, and This Is Us. On Days of Our Lives, he was well remembered for his portrayal of the loan shark Eddie Diamond.
