Tragedy in the country music world. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing
Lauren Alaina, the country singer known for “Road Less Traveled,” has canceled her upcoming shows to mourn the death of her father.
The former American Idol contestant shared the heartbreaking news on social media, writing, “I really don’t have words yet.” She informed her fans on Wednesday, starting her Instagram post with, “We lost my dad last night, and I really don’t have words yet.”
She continued, “I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family.” She concluded by thanking her fans for their “prayers and understanding.”
Following the announcement, many country music stars expressed their sympathy. Jake Owen wrote, “I’m so sorry for your loss, Lauren. Love and strength from my family to you.” MacKenzie Porter commented, “I’m really sorry, sweetheart. We will pray for you and your family.” Martina McBride added, “Sending you so much love.”
The cause of her father’s death has not been disclosed.
Before learning about her father’s passing, Lauren was on tour with Jason Aldean. In a Father’s Day tribute just a few weeks prior, the “Georgia Peaches” singer honored her “old man” on Instagram. “Happy Fathers Day to ‘my old man’ with a heart the size of Texas!!” she wrote. “I love you so much daddy and hope you have the best day fishin’.” She affectionately signed off with, “Love, your turd (pinky).”
The post included heartwarming pictures of the two of them, including a moment from Lauren’s wedding day where her father is seen in tears after seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time. Lauren married Cam Arnold on February 4 of this year.
